DUEL DE EGAO SHADOW GAME AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH
[The feed turns on to a visual of Yuya within ViViD, except there's no elaborate setting. It's simply a gray room without any doors and Yuya standing in the center. At first he seems to be distracted by another holographic screen with his instructions, but he finally looks at his feed with a determined expression.]
Hey. It's been bothering me awhile, so I went to talk to the scientist guys about Yuto. I thought they would know since they're studying the Nexus, and they said Yuto's code is scrambled with mine...so that's why he's not here. [OH THE IMPLICATIONS.]
But they're going to help me-- us. I just have to play a game to help them get our codes separated, and that should help bring Yuto here. [A sigh.] I don't know what this 'Shadow Game' is going to be like, but I figured it's best to keep you two in the loop about what's happening.
[His attention switches back to the other screen, scrolling through it before it ends with a 'START' button at the bottom.] Wish me luck, guys.
[He flashes the feed a smile before pressing the screen, which disappears immediately. For the first few seconds, nothing seems to happen which makes Yuya look around the room expectantly. Then, like a light bulb flickering, the feed stutters and the gray room is switched to a seemingly endless void that surrounds Yuya. The sudden change obviously has an unnerving effect on him, but Yuya takes a deep breath and takes a few steps forward. It's funny how he still somehow maintains a shadow in the darkness, but there's more to it than that. As he moves forward, the shadow stretches and begins to change shape into Yuto's silhouette. Yuya turns around to face his starting position while setting his duel disk in place, and the moment he spots the shadow, it suddenly lifts from the ground and fills with mass. Swallowing thickly, he watches the transformation take place until there's a shadow-like double of Yuto standing across from him.
Again, the feed freezes for a second before ushering in a ring of silver code that hovers midair as it rotates around the two teens in a wide circle. The copy becomes more than just a shadow as the darkness begins to crack, with pieces falling away until it's Yuto standing there in the flesh.]
Yuto!
[Whatever apprehension he originally showed is wiped away with a relieved smile as he sees his counterpart...Except when he tries to step forward, the darkness reaches up from beneath his feet to ensnare his ankles. The confusion is back with Yuya glancing between his feet and his twin. But Yuto is also raising his arm with the darkness taking the form of a duel disk. There's not much of a response from him other than that.]
What? Yuto, you--?! [DUEL MODE ON. STANDBY. It suddenly begins to dawn on him.] ...You're...not quite there yet, are you? If this shadow game is completed, then...
[Yuya's head lowers for a moment as he closes his eyes and hands ball into fists by his sides. He has a bad feeling about this, but if it will bring back Yuto--
When he finally looks up, he's wearing a confident smile.]
Alright, if a duel is what it takes, I'll definitely bring you back, Yuto! [And with his declaration, he draws his hand and sets some cards on the field. One facedown monster and a trap card. While he may sound determined, he's not going to go all out until he knows what else is different about this duel. There's no action cards to rely on, so Yuya is on the defensive until he gets a better hand.
But he's quick to learn what makes this a Shadow Game.
The moment his life points takes a hit, Yuya doubles over. It's much different compared to the explosions and impacts he has to avoid during Action Duels. The pain is in his head, in his chest, and all throughout the rest of his body. It's most familiar to how he felt when their dragons had fought before-- this burning sensation that seems to hit him right at the core of his very being. He gasps outright, and his fingers clench into the material of his shirt where his heart would be. The code surrounding them also seems to be affected by the damage. The collection of numbers becomes thinner and stretched out, as if being slowly ripped apart by some invisible force. It's obviously a physically painful experience for Yuya to anyone watching, but Yuto still doesn't react. It's like he's going through the motions of dueling but not consciously aware quite yet.
Yuya takes a moment to recollect himself before standing back up. The smile is still there, albeit on the forced side and beginning to wane as a drop of sweat drips down the side of his face. It's not so much the immediate pain that's concerning, but rather, Yuto isn't Yuto. There's still more work to do, and more than anything: he doesn't want Yuto to feel this pain.
He stays on the defensive from there, and he won't fight back. So the duel is drawn out to an agonizingly slow pace as Yuya takes the hits with his life points depleted. Each time is worse than the next to the point where he has to muffle a yell against his fist, even biting down later as the pain intensifies. And each time he recovers, Yuya looks up while hoping to see some sort of clarity in Yuto's eyes. The code continues to stretch, reaching the point of fragmenting in sections.
At 500 life points with Yuya looking exhausted to the point of passing out, there's finally something.]

yuya i said egao not get hurt /i couldn't help myself
... Yuya?
[His eyes widen when he finally realizes that Yuya is hurt and exhausted and that for some unknown reason they are dueling. Yuto tries to move, to go to the other duelist, but he finds himself unable to. He gazes down and sees that shadows won't let him go anywhere.
When he looks at Yuya again, Yuto's expression is a mix of worry, fear and confusion.]
Yuya, what is happening? Why are we dueling?
its all good! \o/
Sorry, Yuto. This is the only way I could bring you to this world. For now, consider this a bad dream, okay? I'll tell you more when you wake up.
[Standing a little taller, Yuya takes a breath as his hand hovers over his duel disk. Now that Yuto's awake, he doesn't want him to feel more guilty about having to land the last blow. So Yuya decides to make a final decision:] Trap card, open! Dangerous Draw!
[Drawing the card, he can already guess what it's going to be--] I drew the monster card Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, so I take damage equal to its attack.
[The pain stabs through him again as his life points fall to 0, but Yuya tries to stay upright to address the other teen while he attempts to keep himself from shaking. Their surrounding code disintegrates as well, just leaving only the darkness to surround them, and the shadows caught around Yuya's ankles are snaking upwards at an alarming pace, like they're ready to devour him.]
Y-Yuto...Don't be afraid. Let's have...a fun duel later. [Even if he's scared and everything hurts, Yuya keeps up his smile until the very end before the feed cuts out.]
before the feed ends?
The only thing Yuto can do right now is watch as his counterpart vanishes in the shadows.]
Yuya!
